Couple-a Droids
This photo is a story. I can imagine the whole scene — two droids are up to no good, rolling around the back alleys of Batuu. The R-2 unit in the back has gotten in a bit of trouble and found itself deposited in a holding unit, while the snarky R-5 unit in the foreground looks on, taunting the R-2 unit with every beep-beep-boop. Suddenly, the droids realize they aren’t alone in the alley and turn just in time for the camera to incriminatingly capture them in the act.
At least, that is how I read it.
Taking photos in the Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge section of either Walt Disney World or Disneyland is like a treasure hunt. There is so much theming and detail resulting in an endless number of unique snapshots. Here, I tried to tell the story in the alley, so the edit was a simple adjustment of the contrast and exposure to make it a little more “alley-like” and bumping up the primary colors. I think my favorite part of this photo are the characters. If I remember correctly, these droids are not moving at all, but by getting low to the ground I was able to lock “eyes” with the R-2 unit and bring the photo to life.
